David Barstow

Dr David Barstow is an Elder at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas, the United States. He is the president of EMPACT Africa and a consultant with the World Council of Churches - Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance (WCC-EAA).

After a forty year career as a computer scientist and business consultant, Dr Barstow has spent the last decade as a passionate AIDS activist with a focus on stigma and discrimination. He has worked with local faith leaders in several African countries to help reduce stigma in their congregations. He has also lobbied for human rights at the United States Department of State and has served on numerous WCC ad hoc committees. He is currently producing a film to re-raise awareness about the war against AIDS and to dramatize the high stakes if the world cuts back on its commitment to end AIDS by 2030.
